THG is looking to recruit a People Advisor to join the People team at our ICON2 site in Manchester. As a team, we are providing a professional HR support service to the distribution and warehousing areas of the business.

For this role, you will need to be happy working independently to support Managers in our ICON Operation campus. The People Advisor will report to the People Business Partner and support them in key areas including employee relations cases, data analysis and project work plus support the wider group with HR-related activities. Providing advice and guidance to staff and managers and working with them to ensure they follow processes and procedures.

Employee Relations

  • Take responsibility for the management of all core ER cases across business areas including all sickness cases, flexible working requests, performance management plans, grievance and disciplinary processes.
  • Colleague Welfare / OH referral / Risk Assessment/ Amended duties / Capability processes
  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues and managers as required
  • Liaise with the HR Business Partner to ensure appropriate support is provided to THG on complex ER issues
  • Champion the development of people management skills
  • Management of Parental Leave

Performance Management

  • Coach and influence managers from a people perspective, developing their people management/leadership skills and constructively challenging inappropriate behaviours/actions
  • Ensure all cases of formal performance management are documented and recorded in line with internal audit requirements
  • Support managers in the Colleague performance management framework and that the correct stages are followed in a timely manner
  • Involvement in follow-up actions from performance ratings and succession planning

Engagement & Development

  • Support with the creation and rollout of engagement activities
  • Develop Managers and colleagues in coaching skills and our people processes
  • Support the delivery of the local induction as required
  • Delivery of HR module training to the internal management team
  • Support positive ED&I culture within the wider team
  • Lead the process for site recognition and support the managers in identifying talent and top performers to recognise
  • Active involvement in the development of the “peak” people team strategy and delivery

Stakeholder partnerships

  • Manage, support and develop the People Assistants
  • Work closely with the wider People Team (Payroll/T&A/Shared Service/People Data) to ensure accurate and timely input of all payroll information onto the system in line with deadlines
  • Work alongside the L&D teams in the creation and rollout of Manager training in line with the Operational requirements
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff and managers and work with them to ensure they follow processes and procedures
  • Be involved in weekly planning and agency discussions

Data Analysis

  • Weekly reviews of ER cases and KPIs, focusing on trends of behaviour and opportunities for continuous improvement and development
  • Work with the Talent business partner to review attrition analysis exit interviews and associated action planning
  • Following up on data trends coming out of daily/weekly KPI pack
  • Work with the Operations team for any organisational change and ensure that all HR systems are updated with the relevant information to ensure accurate payroll updates

To be considered for this role you should have the following Skills and Experience

  • At least two years of HR experience
  • Experience advising managers and stakeholders on HR policies and procedures
  • Experience managing HR cases, within warehousing or manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Strong technical skills and a good working knowledge of current employment legislation
  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to analyse data and summarise key findings
  • Good communication and data presentation skills
  • Capable of working using your own initiative
  • Level 5 CIPD Qualification desirable
  • Flexibility is required with regards to working patterns as this area of the business operates 24/7 so you may be required to work a later shift to support the night team and also support at weekends occasionally
