Senior NPD Technologist:

 

The Bakery NPD Technologist is responsible for driving innovation for new and existing products across Baked Goods. The role will involve building out bakery products to elevate one of the most expansive healthy snacking ranges globally, across key categories such as wellness and performance. Working alongside key suppliers and stakeholders, the role will involve developing complex high protein healthy products, keeping up to date with new ingredient technologies and liaising with production and quality teams to deliver best in class processes. Within the role, you will manage the developments working with the UK team, moving approved samples through to production trials and agreeing all parameters and set points. The candidate will be required to interpret shelf life and quality data to influence product development decisions.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for delivery of the bakery product development plan, in line with the commercial deliverables and operational capabilities.
  • Train and upskill production team in bakery and ingredients to aid consistent product quality in production
  • Formulate new and existing products in line with consumer insights, that have approved claims
  • Communicate key updates to senior stakeholders
  • Creating product information sheets and specifications
  • Briefing suppliers on new ingredients - working to technical, operational and commercial constraints
  • Supporting Quality Manager on product specific requirements

 

Requirements:

 

  • Nutrition/Bakery/Food technology degree or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of the FMCG / Food manufacturing industry and product development technologies. Knowledge of the baking industry is essential.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Bakery R&D role
  • Proven delivery of complex, technically challenging food and/or packaging development projects involving cross-functional teams and proactive risk management.
  • Self-motivated and strong independent worker
  • Understanding of NPD processes from concept through to launch
  • Enthusiastic and proactive personality, excellent communication skills, working well as part of a team
  • Able to work well under pressure and deliver to strict deadlines
  • Interest in fitness, health & wellbeing
  • Understanding of industry standards and compliance
