13 September 2023 – THG plc ("THG" or the "Group"), the global proprietary technology platform specialising in taking brands direct to consumers ("D2C"), is pleased to announce that THG has been awarded the EMEA Circular economy Transition of the Year Award in the 2023 Sustainable Company Awards from Environmental Finance for the company’s initiative to turn unused Myprotein products into fish feed.
The initiative was championed by THG’s facilities and sustainability teams' partnership with MYGroup, a waste processing company specialising in sustainable commercial disposal.
The award for Circular Transition of the Year from The Environmental Finance Sustainable Company Awards specifically identifies companies working towards a more sustainable future by transforming their strategies and business models to meet core business requirements in a sustainable manner.
One Environmental Finance Sustainable Company Awards judge spoke of the project as: “An excellent initiative that delivers tangible positive environmental outcomes as well as a positive economic impact in reducing waste costs for the company and providing a useful raw material for MYgroup.”

The process to turn out of date Myprotein product into fish feed includes:
- Starting with batches being blended with other upcycled ingredients, creating a perfectly balanced diet of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.
- The combined Myprotein ingredients and upcycled materials are then used to produce a sustainable fish feed pellet.
Championing an entrepreneurial attitude is how sustainable developments like this can take place, and it is testament to THG employees’ out of the box thinking and initiative that THG has won this award. Winning the EMEA Circular Transition of the Year Award also demonstrates how THG is working towards its strategic goal of Strengthening its Supply Chain and Circularity.
