“The more I learned about [THG], the more impressed I was with the scale of opportunities and the real responsibility each role held. I knew I would be able to apply myself and develop my skills in an environment like this."
Eager to grow his creative and marketing skills in a hands-on environment, Will has immersed himself in global projects, gaining valuable experience in product marketing, creative design, and brand development. From collaborating with in-house designers to presenting ideas to senior leadership, his internship has pushed him beyond his comfort zone, helping him build the confidence to thrive in a fast-paced, global business.
When I started my internship at THG four months ago, I had no idea just how much I was going to learn in such a short time – not only about the world of marketing and business, but also about myself. From working with huge partnerships such as Disney to presenting my ideas to senior leadership members, my time so far at THG has been transformative.
I’m a Marketing student currently on a 12-month placement working in the Product Marketing team for Myprotein. Although two days at THG are never the same, my core day-to-day responsibilities mainly surround the creative packaging design of new products and updating old packaging following a recent rebrand. I work closely with the Myprotein brand team and coordinate ideas with in-house designers at THG Studios, looking at competitors in the wider market and aligning with brand guidelines.
Looking back to when I applied for this role, my initial impression of THG was that it was a company driven by innovation and creativity. The more I learned about the company, the more eager I became to join the team. I was impressed with the scale of opportunities and real responsibility each role held, and I knew I was going to be able to apply myself and develop my skills in an environment like this. Prior to joining THG, I had developed foundational skills in marketing and creative fields such as photography and design, so hearing about the hands-on experiences and opportunities offered here really stood out compared to other placement opportunities that seemed less development focused.

Since a young age I have always taken an interest in business, so paired with my creativity, studying for a marketing degree was a perfect fit. I grew up in a small village near Manchester and have always aspired to move to the city and develop my career in a big company, so after getting a taste for the big city life at university I was eager to get on that path. Working at THG has given me the confidence that I can be a versatile marketing professional, having experienced this fast-paced culture and adapted to busy periods such as Black Friday, whilst getting a good understanding of a global brand.
In the short time I’ve been at THG, I’ve already amassed an array of achievements, having branched out much further than just the role in my job description. I’ve presented webinars to audiences of hundreds, joined the Ambassador Network creating content for employer branding and spoke on panels to external visitors in the auditorium.
If I was to give any advice to people considering applying for a role at THG, I would stress the importance of making yourself stand out. The culture here is full of eager and innovative people who have real motivation to apply themselves to all situations, so getting involved in diverse projects and demonstrating a passion to grow will be recognised. Getting a position at THG provides opportunities for many doors to be opened, so it’s important to highlight your passions, strengths and what makes you unique.
Looking ahead I’m excited to see what the next eight months at THG have in store. This internship has already exceeded my expectations, pushing me to grow professionally and personally, showing me the value of stepping outside my comfort zone. I’m looking forward to seeing how this experience shapes the next stage of my career.
